Hinds CC / Bridgwater & Taunton College Student Visit

“Jared Pierce and Kirk Oldenburg presented to visiting students from Bridgwater and Taunton College in England (yes, the United Kingdom England!). The presentation focused on the process of a typical CCD project, specifically focusing on the B.B. King Museum in Indianola, MS which the students would later visit as part of their U.S. itinerary. The B.B. King Museum, which won an AIA Mississippi Honor Award, was a great introduction to working with a unique program, renovation of an existing (and historic) structure, and a new construction addition. CCD was also honored to return to the museum site and design the memorial garden where B.B. King is laid to rest. Following the presentation, the students got to tour CCD’s office and learn more about how the firm operated. They especially liked learning the history of the CCD building renovation and the rooftop deck drew lots of photos! The visit closed after a short walk to Hal & Mal’s where the students enjoyed gumbo and fried catfish po-boys.”
