The Mississippi Children’s Museum, located at the Lefleur’s Bluff State Park in Jackson, Mississippi, incorporates bright colors and informal shapes, providing a beacon to welcome children and peak their interest in the built environment. The building design promotes the educational mission through a compact floor plan, a clear circulation pattern, soaring internal spaces, inviting views to nature, and the ample use of natural light. All aspects of the design were considered from the view point of the smallest and tallest visitors, with child and parent alike finding delight in amenities provided just for them. As the museum architect, CCD coordinated the building design with interactive exhibits by Kraemer Design + Production.
