The expansion and renovation of Flora United Methodist Church enabled the church to meet the challenge of serving a growing congregation while maintaining the heritage of their existing sanctuary. A new sanctuary was added that increased their seating capacity from 125 to 330 attendees and the existing sanctuary was repurposed to be a welcome center that includes an information station, restrooms, and seating areas. The existing sanctuary holds important life memories for many of the church members so care was taken when renovating to keep elements of the space’s original character including the stained glass windows, lighting, woodwork, and its role as the front door of the church.
