The Art Park is a vital component in the growth of Vicksburg’s downtown. Working with Neel Schaffer, Canizaro Cawthon Davis participated in the master plan for the future arts district, including the Art Park, a public garden and amphitheater. During the development of the Art Park, Canizaro Cawthon Davis participated in the design and was primarily responsible for design of the public toilets. The building provides a backdrop to the play fountain and incorporates architectural elements which recall historic Vicksburg architecture, including a stone belt course, masonry walls, and a large-scale masonry arch at the entry. Exterior and interior materials were selected for durability and ease of maintenance. A catfish weathervane adds a whimsical touch at the roof peak.
