The Canopy Children’s Solutions provides treatment and education to children with behavioral and emotional issues across the state of Mississippi. Located on the Jean Austin Bagley Campus, in Jackson Mississippi, the W.L. Albritton Arts & Education Center is a specialty school serving children living in the treatment facilities on campus, as well as students from area school districts, who have struggled in a traditional school setting. The school provides a fully accredited, highly structured, quality education, as well as individualized behavioral treatment plans for its students.
To accommodate the needs of Canopy Children’s Solutions and its students, CCD worked to design a safe, non-institutional, and welcoming environment with generous class room spaces that are versatile and allow for a diverse range of educational opportunities. The two-story building provides six traditional classrooms spaces, computer lab, art room, music and practice room, library, administrative offices, and cafeteria. Special care was taken in the design to incorporate safety features to provide protection in behavioral situations where standard building components might pose a hazard to the students and staff within the building. CCD provided master plan and design services for new cottages, education buildings and sports fields.
