Vicksburg Art Park

The Art Park is a vital component in the growth of Vicksburg’s downtown. Working with Neel Schaffer, Canizaro Cawthon Davis participated in the master plan for the future arts district, including the Art Park , a public garden and amphitheater. During the development of the Art Park, Canizaro Cawthon Davis participated in the design and was primarily responsible for the public toilets. The building provides a backdrop to the play fountain and incorporates architectural elements which recall historic Vicksburg architecture, including a stone belt course, masonry walls, and a large scale masonry arch at the entry. Exterior and interior materials were selected for durability and ease of maintenance. A catfish weather vane adds a whimsical touch at the roof peak.
