The new courts complex in Gulfport combines historic preservation with new construction. A new 8-story tower accommodates federal courtrooms, chambers, and other offices. Adaptive reuse of the historic Gulfport High School provides space for court-related offices. The tower includes eight courtrooms - 4 District, 2 Magistrate, 2 Bankruptcy - with expansion provision for a fifth District courtroom and related spaces. This fast tract project was completed from start to finish in 5 years. It had strict government energy consumption requirements in spite of being in the design excellence program of GSA.
CCD, in association with R.M. Kliment & Frances Halsband Architects, was responsible for the construction documents, interior design, and construction administration.
