Grand Ecore Visitors Center
|Experience:||Museums / Civic|
Sitting on a bluff overlooking the Red River near Natchitoches, Louisiana, this facility informs the public about the Red River Valley and the role of the Corps of Engineers. Located near an existing Civil War fort, this center also helps to educate the public about the rich heritage and history of the surrounding region. With the use of a hipped roof and wrap-around porch, the museum takes inspiration from surrounding vernacular architecture. This further enhances the use of traditional building materials and construction methods. The facility includes space for a reception area, exhibition hall, office and work areas, along with restrooms, storage, and other support spaces.
